Before their collaboration on Furtney’s 2010 New Terminal Hotel, back in 2004 the core team of writer-director BC Furtney, director of photography Nickolas Rossi, composer Trevin Pinto and actress Laura Leigh worked together for the first time to create the prize-winning, sexy-bloody murder mystery Mister Eryams. On Eryams’ heels came Disposer and Perfect, both starring Leigh in leading roles. Two later shorts fill out a new DVD collection now available on Amazon.com (Culinary Art and Voices).
Order your copy of The Short Films of BC Furtney here for only $9.99.

A new review in NexGen Pulp’s Spring 2010 issue provides a fresh perspective on New Terminal Hotel, parting from the dumbed-down, bloodporn junkie point of view found in most horror reviews found online.
When I first read BC’s script for NTH, I thought gothic noir. Of course it’s more than that, but as a fan of classic noir films, I was delighted by the story. I’m even more taken with the finished product. NexGen seems to feel the same way calling it an “exciting new incarnation of new film noir”, with allusions to Hitchcock, Lovecraft and Poe.
Here are a few excerpts:
“It is reminiscent of more than one pulp genre. To begin with, the setting of the seedy hotel, the murders, and the unfolding mystery as to what motivates the killer all hearken back to the classic detective stories, only the film puts the audience in the P.I.’s chair.”
“It is the character of that killer, Don Malek, that is the mystery. It is hard to tell, at first, if his actions and mannerisms are coming from twisted eccentricity or some yet to be revealed depth. It saves the first half of the film from becoming yet another Hostel-style horror film that relies on shock factor in place of character development.”
“New Terminal Hotel is an exciting new incarnation of new film noir and new pulp fiction. It is firmly rooted in the spirit of the old pulps but develops in a modern setting relevant to a modern viewer. That said, it may not be for every pulp fan, as the “genre” is a wide one. But horror fans, craving more than cheap tricks and surprise turns of character masquerading as psychological depth, will.”

One year after its completion, almost to the day, the New Terminal Hotel Soundtrack is now available on CD here via Amazon.com.
After a decade of collaboration, writer-director BC Furtney and composer Trevin Pinto have teamed up once again for the modern noir, New Terminal Hotel, starring Stephen Geoffreys (Fright Night), Tiffany Shepis (Tromeo and Juliet), Corey Haim (Lost Boys) and Ezra Buzzington (Fight Club). This disc contains Pinto’s hauntingly lyrical, industrial score, a solo acoustic song by singer-songwriter John Dissed called “Tables Turn” and colorful dialogue clips from the film.
An mp3 version is also available for download on Amazon.
And go to MixMatchMusic for details about the first piece from the score, ”The Mask”, being made available for all you remixers to create your own sonic Frankensteins out of! There you can download the individual tracks to remix on your music software, or you can create your own mix on the site using their app. Looking forward to see what comes of this…

Check out this Remix Wizard for “The Mask” from New Terminal Hotel. If you are a remixer or know one, check it out, forward it on.
You can download the individual tracks, remix in your music software, or if you don’t have music software, use MixMatchMusic’s Mix Maker.
Then upload your finished remix and people can vote for their favorites.
It would be great to put out a remix album of the score to accompany the Soundtrack CD being released this week (download is available here). We’ll see what happens…

Music by The Royal Gents (their song ”Sometimes a Girl” is featured in the film). I also play ”The Avenging Angel” from the film’s score and upcoming soundtrack CD.

Coming soon from Bull Lee Records, this will feature my solo acoustic track, “Tables Turn”, which writer-director BC Furtney was kind enough to include in the film. Can’t wait, the DVD will be out first, then the soundtrack soon to follow…
Check out the New Terminal Hotel trailer here.
